This is a small Chinese buddha statue. I chose this object because it relates to me and my Chinese heritage. I got it in Los Angeles in Chinatown while I was visiting my family. When taking the photos, I liked how the light reflected off of the buddha to give a shine to the golden color.

This is a small wooden plane trinket. This object was given to me by my dad as a gift. I really like how the lighter wood contrasted with the darker wood of the plane. When taking the photos, I tried to use focus up close to emphasis different parts of the plane.

This is a mandarin orange. I really liked the vibrant color of the orange on the outside and inside and how the light really brought out that color. When taking the photos, I tried to be creative with my photos, experimenting with the orange peel and actual orange by disassembling and arranging it in different ways.
The Right Way
This is a compass. It means a lot to me because it was given to me by my grandpa as a gift. One challenge I faced while taking these photos was the glare of the light reflecting on the glass surface of the compass. I wanted to capture the needle and writing on the inside so I had to change the angle to avoid the light from blocking those features.
This is a pair of glasses. I can relate to this object because I have bad vision and it helps me see at home. A similar challenge to the compass was trying to avoid the glare of the light on the glass surface of the glasses. Similarly, I had to find the right angle to take the photos to avoid this problem.
