I took these photos of the wooded ravine in my backyard. I took the photos later in the day while the sun was setting so it only shined on certain parts of the landscape. I really liked the way the light shined in these photos. I also tried to bring the vibrance of the green out of the plants into the mainly brown landscape.

Painted Forest
I took these photos of the Huron River near my house looking downstream. The water was very still so the sky and trees reflected nicely off the water. When adding the effect of the water painting, I found it interesting that the transition of blues on the water was less smooth and more layered with five types of blue. This was different from the gradient of the blues in the original picture.
Still Water
Layered Blues
I took these photos of some purple flowers growing within the grass. I really liked the contrast of the purple of the flowers with the green of the grass. It was a challenge to avoid the dead leaves within the grass as well which added an undesired color of brown that took away from the vibrance of colors.
Spring is here
Pretty Purple
I took these photos of Orchard Lake at a crew regatta. The water was very blue and clear. However the bright white sky reflected to make the water appear white as well. I was trying to capture the blue of the lake but instead captured a bright white landscape which also looked good.

White Water
I took this picture of the Huron River behind some trees. I liked how I could capture the river landscape in the background through the leafless trees. I found it challenging to get the effect of a water color painting in editing with the appearance of the trees. In my mind, I was able to get the effect to the best of my ability.
